Waterpark Simulator Crossplay: No, and Here Is Why

No. Waterpark Simulator has no crossplay. PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox players can only play with people on the same platform, and the developers have said it was never planned and will not be added.

Why the developers will not add it

Crossplay usually runs through a publisher-operated matchmaking service. Those services cost money to keep online, and when they are eventually shut down, the multiplayer mode dies with them. CayPlay decided not to take that dependency.

“We never planned crosplay and have mentioned this several times. The main reason we don't do cross-compatibility is that it would pretty much set a deadline for how long multiplayer would work. Since we also hate the whole thing with live services and how they are limited by the costs of servers, we opted for a solution that, as long as the platform exists, you can play multiplayer without worrying we pull the rug on the servers”

The trade is deliberate: no crossplay, but co-op that keeps working for as long as your platform does. It is not a feature waiting on a patch, and it is not something a future update is likely to reverse — the studio has defended the decision more than once.

Four players is the current ceiling, and the studio has called it a technical limit rather than a design choice — they have said they are looking into raising it. Everything else about co-op works normally within that limit.

If your group is split across platforms

Count who owns what. Whichever platform the majority already has is usually the cheapest landing spot.
If anyone is on Xbox and subscribes to Game Pass, the game is included — that side costs nothing extra.
On PC the game is $12.99 on Steam, which is often cheaper than a second console purchase.
Groups larger than four will need to split into separate parks either way.

There is one edge case worth knowing: Steam Deck players are on the PC platform, because the Deck runs the Windows build through Proton. A Deck owner can play with Steam friends on desktop, but still not with anyone on PlayStation or Xbox.
