The missing ladle

The most common sauna complaint is the ladle vanishing from your hands mid-task. It is not gone. Walk up to the bucket and look for the faint, ghosted ladle outline resting in or beside it, then click that outline to get it back. The ladle page covers the "requires ladle" message and exactly where the tool sits.

This is the game's general tool-recovery mechanic, not a sauna quirk. Drop a hammer or a squeegee somewhere odd and the same ghosted outline lets you recover it. If the click does not register, step closer — the interaction range is short.

Sauna problems checklist

• Ladle vanished — click the ghosted ladle outline in the bucket.
• Dial will not go green — you are on the wrong temperature band, not a bug.
• Requests piling up — saunas need constant attention, which is what the automation mod targets.
• Guest left before you finished — you were too slow matching the temperature; start the next one sooner.

The sauna arrived as part of the Wellness Update, which tied it into the broader wellness questline. Expect to spend real time here if you are chasing that content, because the requests keep coming.

Can staff run the sauna?

Yes. Once you have staff on duty they pick up sauna requests on their own — in one hundred-guest run the owner counted heads while two employees went round setting the saunas, and a Reddit poster stuck on the wellness task found their staffer had already fixed the request before they got there. You still do the ladle yourself when you are the one inside. Update 1.0.28 also made the wellness objectives completable by everyone in a multiplayer lobby, not just the host.

• Saunas still need constant attention; staff only shorten the queue, they do not remove it.
• Six saunas with staff handled 100 relaxations in a single day in the footage below — the same job takes far longer solo.
• Overheating one on purpose is how you make guests catch fire for that Yogi step.

Adjusting the temperature is a separate matter from answering requests. An Xbox player asked on 8 September whether any staff type covers setting the heat on hot tubs and saunas, because their maintenance workers never went near them. The developer's answer was that it is a research unlock: "There is a separate research that unlocks maintenance doing it." Until you buy that node with research points, the +/− and the ladle stay your job on every platform, including consoles where the mod below is not an option.

Automating saunas and hot tubs

On PC a mod starts saunas and activates hot tubs automatically whenever they are idle. It adds no UI and needs no configuration, which makes it one of the more popular quality-of-life uploads on Nexus Mods.

It is PC-only, so PlayStation 5 and Xbox players run saunas by hand. If you are on console and the constant requests are wearing you down, the practical answer is to build fewer saunas rather than more — each one is another station demanding attention.
