Waterpark Simulator Recycle Dumpster: Unlock and Burn Trash

The recycle dumpster is the black dumpster with flames painted on it, in the Utility tab of the build menu. It unlocks with the Resort Trash Bins research, which opens up after your third star. Build one and throw full trash bags into it: they burn, the city pays you for each one, and that is what Yogi's "Burn trash bags in recycle dumpster" step counts.

If the build menu shows the dumpster as locked by research, the quest has not bugged: you skipped a research node. The trash bins research line branches, and it is easy to go straight past the one the recycle dumpster comes with.

Burn trash bags for Yogi

  1. Place the recycle dumpster close to the bins guests use most, so every trip is short.
  2. Empty a full trash can so you are carrying a bag.
  3. Throw the bag into the open dumpster. It bursts into flames and a notification reads "Good job, you got $30 from the city for recycling!"
  4. Repeat until the task list shows 10/10 under May the Steam Be With You.

Only that dumpster counts. The player who first asked found that trash cans catching fire on their own during park events do not count either. A good throw also earns a "Nice throw! 10/10!" message, a throw score that has been in the game since 0.2.21, and since 14 August you can grab loose trash with your hands and toss it in directly.

Your first dumpster stays where it is

Players who tried to swap the starter dumpster for a recycle one hit a wall. When one could not break a dumpster with the sledgehammer to make room, another player's answer was: "You can destroy the grime dumpsters you build, but you can never destroy your original dumpster." A June 2026 request to let players upgrade or move it got no reply. Build the recycle dumpster somewhere else; the delete and move guide explains what else cannot be removed.
