Waterpark Simulator Research Points: Fastest Methods

Cleaning graffiti with an upgraded mop and spraying guests with the water gun are the two fastest research point sources players report. Both reward active work, and both scale better than waiting on passive park income.
The two methods that stand out
| Method | Why it works | What you need |
|---|---|---|
| Clean graffiti | Good per-action gain, strongest early | An upgraded mop |
| Spray guests with the water gun | Repeatable on any guest, very fast per action | Water Gun unlocked |
Both reward you for doing things by hand rather than waiting. That is the general shape of research in this game — active work pays, idling does not. If you are sitting still watching the money tick up, you are not earning research.
Upgrade the mop first
Graffiti cleanup is worth doing from day one, but the gain improves noticeably once the mop is upgraded. If you plan to grind research early, that upgrade pays for itself quickly.
The water gun route
The water gun has to be unlocked before it earns anything, and it is the standard early recommendation for exactly that reason. Once you have it, spraying visitors is one of the quickest per-action sources players have found.
A patch made this less painful: you can now hold to fire all the guns rather than clicking for each shot. The developers explicitly called out saving players from the carpal tunnel of 40 clicks to clean guests. If you are still clicking, stop — hold the button.
The water gun also sits in the same family as the Taser, which the Yogi questline needs, so unlocking guest-interaction tools is never wasted even after you stop grinding research.
What to spend research on
- Tool upgrades first — they make every subsequent point easier to earn.
- Income unlocks next, so the park pays for its own expansion.
- Staff Overflow later, once daily profit can absorb the tax it adds.
- The full tree eventually — completing it unlocks the Nothing left to learn achievement.
Research and the star chain
Research points are one of three currencies the star objectives track, alongside money earned and decoration points. The in-game task list shows all three as bars you are filling.
Because research is the one you earn by playing actively rather than by waiting, it is often the bottleneck for players who build a pretty park and then sit in it. If your stars have stalled, check whether it is research points you are short of before assuming you need more money.
